Differences of titanium black color which colored by anodizing and PVD coating
Usually customers want titanium fasteners or other titanium parts in black colors, now there are two kinds of technology to do black color, one is anodizing and the other is PVD coating.
1. Though both are black coloring, but after coloring, the black color has some differences. The black color by anodizing is light black or can be called gray black. The black color by PVD coating is dark black or can be called the real black.Just view below compared photos.
2. For the PVD coated black color,it can raise finish hardness of the titanium parts, its finish hardness can reach to HV2000. But for the anodizing,it is just an oxidation film,it can’t raise finish hardness of titanium parts.
3. The anodized black color will generate purple speckles for a period, and until now,the coloring factory can’t find the reasons. But for the PVD coated black titanium fasteners, its color won’t get changed even after long time using.
4. Another difference is the PVD coated black color will have some higher coloring fees than anodized black color. But it is worth to do black color by PVD coating.
So we suggest all of our customers purchase PVD coating black colored titanium fasteners to avoid problem of color changing of anodized black color.
